If you work in a large
organization, you have a lot to worry about:
managing your team, managing your boss, managing your career
path, politics, and getting something accomplished that will make a
difference and show your value. Who can you trust to
talk about these issues and get unbiased support and
guidance?
In some cases you can confide
in your boss, a mentor, or a co-worker, but it's tough to
get to the root of an issue if you are worried about the
impression you might create.
Support is especially
important during your first year at a company, when you
establish your identity within the organization, and during
internal transitions, when people are fearful and defensive
by nature, making conflicts inevitable.
Career success coaching is about reaching your true potential at
work.
- Develop a career plan
and position yourself for growth opportunities
- Create a great
impression as you assimilate into a new environment
- Vent about
frustrations in a safe place -- away from work
- Build outstanding
communication skills and position yourself as a leader
- Identify and master
the technical skills most important to your job
- Learn how to deal
with difficult people, and get your needs met at work.
- Get focus, strategy,
and accountability while you are driving an important
project or initiative
How it Works
The coaching process starts
with goal-setting, then quickly moves to
managing yourself effectively in a corporate environment.
In order to effectively reach your goals at work, you will
need buy in from your team, access to resources, the ability to clearly
present
your intentions, progress, and the value of what you are
doing, and the time, project, and people management
skills to stay focused and flexible in a dynamic
environment. Once you have established your initial
goals, most of your coaching will be around specific situations at work, with
re-assessment
of your plans whenever needed.
