Sometimes
you know exactly what you want to achieve, but you are
frustrated because you are not moving forward fast enough,
or at all. The tendency is usually to blame ourselves
(I'm lazy, unmotivated, there's something wrong with me,
etc.) or to blame time (I have too much to do, so I don't
have time to focus on me). Ninety percent of the
time there's something deeper going on, and if you don't
take a look at it, nothing will change.
Stress Reduction coaching is about getting to the source of
your frustrations and making personal changes that last.
Here are just a few examples:
- When you have too
much on your plate, first you get tools to manage your
workload, and then you learn to set boundaries so you
aren't taking on what you don't want.
- When people drive you
nuts, first you learn to manage annoying people, and
then you learn how to get your needs met, so people stop
driving you nuts.
- When you work really
hard but aren't achieving your goals, first we refine
your action plan, and then we identify and remove the
inner conflicts or fears that are holding you back.
- When you find
yourself procrastinating or avoiding actions that will
bring you what you think you want, first we get clear on
your goals, and then we identify and eliminate beliefs
that are holding you back.
How it Works
Notice that in each
bullet above, there are two steps. There are lots
of training programs, self-help books, and coaches
available to help you with step one. But the first
part of the solution is usually only the surface issue.
That is like pulling the top off the weeds in your
garden, while the roots continue to thrive.
What's great about this
type of coaching is that we work together to find the
roots. And once we've dug them out, the problem goes
away for good - even if it's been repeating itself in
your life for twenty or more years!
