Most experts on the enneagram agree that the nine types were developed as some combination of nature and nurture, but it seems like they have different theories about how that happens. I found an article (with no author to credit) that gave an explanation that was intriguing to me, but seemed to have a few things out of place. So, I made some changes and it fell into place in my mind beautifully. For me it answers some nagging questions like why is the head triad fearful and the instinctive triad angry? I don’t know if these are THE answers, but for now they are my answers, and maybe it will be interesting to you as well:
